To learn more about the nutrition content or ingredients in this Devour mac and cheese, check out our package scan below.Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese is a simple and easy way to make totally homemade mac and cheese without a ton of work. Now we hope Devour takes their other variations on this dish back to the drawing board - this meal proves they can do much better. While you’re far better off just picking up one of their frozen macaroni dishes (ahem, the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese), this one is surprisingly good. The Devour Creamy Alfredo Mac & Cheese with Bacon is Devour’s best dry macaroni meal. This mac and cheese isn’t the fattiest dish in the Devour line, but at 350 calories (110 from fat), it’s certainly no diet food. In fact, many of their frozen foods come with huge calorie counts.
#DEVOUR MEALS MAC UPGRADE#
It’s definitely a huge upgrade over Devour’s other dry macaroni dishes.ĭevour isn’t known for their low-calorie meals. We’re still not a fan of these dried-out bacon bits, and the breadcrumbs don’t add a whole lot to this meal, but we have to admit that this is a pretty tasty mac and cheese. We wouldn’t quite call it an alfredo (though the box isn’t afraid to do so), but it’s a smooth, creamy cheese sauce with a pretty decent flavor. The cheese does still have a little bit of that Easy Cheese quality that we mentioned regarding the Sharp Cheddar Mac & Cheese with Bacon, but it’s not as bad as Devour’s other dry macaronis. Part of that is due to whatever that white stuff in the spice packet was, and part of it is because the cheese comes in a squeeze packet rather than as a powder.

But after having made this ourselves, we have to admit that it’s actually surprisingly creamy. Whew, what a load of work that was! So now that that’s all taken care of, let’s dive into the meal.įirst off, we have to admit that we were pretty skeptical about a dry macaroni being “creamy.” Even though the word Creamy is in the title of the meal, we expected that to be a pretty hefty exaggeration. (That’s why our macaroni water looks like it was snowed on.)Īfter cooking this for four and a half minutes, stir in the cheese sauce, then top it all off with the bacon bits packet and the breadcrumbs packet. If you’re not sure what we mean, refer to the image below.Īlso, don’t forget that the seasoning packet needs to be emptied into the dish before you put all this into the microwave. You don’t need a lot of water for this to work out. So where is the proper fill line on this Devour mac and cheese? Well, completely disregard the image above, and instead fill your bowl up to the lowest fill line, which is maybe an inch or so deep. The box instructions, in fact, have the wrong fill line shown in their illustration.
#DEVOUR MEALS MAC FULL#
However, one of the problems people have been having with these macaroni dishes is that the instructions aren’t clear about how full you should fill the dish with water. Now, putting the components together is pretty self-explanatory.
#DEVOUR MEALS MAC HOW TO#
There’s quite a bit of pieces to this puzzle, and figuring out how to make it all work is actually kind of tricky.
There’s a bowl with some dry noodles in it, a shiny gold cheese packet, a packet of bacon bits, and packets of breadcrumbs and seasoning. So when we picked up the Devour Creamy Alfredo Mac & Cheese with Bacon, we were nervous it would be yet another failed attempt at a dry macaroni.Īs you can see in the image below, this meal comes with several components that need to be assembled. The Hot & Melty Nacho Mac & Cheese was a huge disappointment, and the Sharp Cheddar Mac & Cheese with Bacon was barely mediocre. Of course, we haven’t had much luck with it. So we were intrigued when we found out Devour was also in the business of making dry mac and cheese. Devour makes some killer frozen mac and cheese - in fact, their Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese is one of the best macaroni dishes you’ll find in your grocery store’s freezer aisle.
